Created in response to the devastating Covid-19 crisis, We Shall Stand is a secure gifting platform that enables South African generosity through the giving of essential food vouchers to those in desperate need.
Gifters can log into the platform, purchase a voucher for one of the participating retailers - Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Pick n Pay Clothing, Makro, Baby City and NetFlorist - and send the voucher code, with a personal message, straight to the recipient’s cellphone by SMS. The voucher can immediately be used to buy food, household essentials or winter clothing.
The platform went live in May 2020, just a few weeks after South Africa’s lockdown began. It remains a work in progress as we explore new ways to respond to the need that surrounds us.
