Sunlight Laundry Bar is an iconic South African product. Its multiple uses make it a firm favourite with consumers looking to make a value purchase. The core target audience is LSM B and C. 

Our client sought to drive sales volume and particularly to outperform the previous year’s (2015) airtime campaign where consumers could "buy 3 bars and get R8 airtime”. This campaign had surpassed all expectations.

The 2016 campaign gave away R10 electricity instead. Sunlight was the first to market with this reward offer. The campaign went live in October 2016 using a USSD mechanic: (*120*3532#).

Using this USSD string, a consumer could input 4 unique codes as well as their meter number and receive a reward voucher for R10 electricity. If the consumer's meter was not registered, Thumbtribe would register it on their behalf. Should the registration not be successful, a R10 airtime voucher would be rewarded in its place.
